We're trying out a new site for our show & tell photos. Click on the link below for a view see the creativity of our guild members. We apologize if some of the pictures are sideways but you can still see the beautiful quilts our members have made. Also please ignore the ads. We have to have them to keep the site free.
This is the anniversary cake we had at our June 6, 2015 meeting. It was so hard to cut in to it. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HERRING RUN!! Special thanks to guild member Kathy Rich for getting this great cake for us.
CONGRATULATIONS!
To our joy, HRQG members are prolific sewers. It is great to see our members winning awards for their quilting as well as for their other skills.
Members Martha Cook and Lynn Anastos recently had their works juried into local shows. Lynn had two small "journal" quilts chosen to hang in the "Sky and Sea" Art Exhibit at the Lifesaving Museum in Hull.
Martha also had two pieces chosen to hang in the Scituate Art Association's Annual Juried Show in their Front Street Gallery.
Kathy Rich won second place for all over quilt design at the April, 2012 MQX show in Providence, RI.
Sue Hart’s beautiful quilt, “Chapters in My Life” won the Publisher’s Award from The Quilter Magazine at The Gathering in Nashua, NH.
Anne Marcin and her group’s work with the non-profit organization Wrapped Up in Sports was featured in an article in the Jan. 9, 2012 issue of the Patriot Ledger. The full page spread contained photos of Anne with her teammates Cyndi Meaney, Maureen Anderson, Rachel Meaney, and Jackie Lahy. Some of their sports-themed quilts were recently delivered to families living on the Hanscom Air Force Base.
In addition, the Coastal Quilt Artists (CQA) of which Anne is also a member has a wonderful five page spread in the latest issue of Quilting Arts Magazine (February/March 2012) #55.
Janet Duncan Dignan and Penny Myles are also part of that group and belong to HRQG. It features five of their award-winning "slice" quilts.
Penny Myles and Nancy Robertson had quilts on display at the Whistler House Museum in Lowell in 2011 as part of the “Fine Art to Fiber: Reinterpreting the Masters” exhibit. Please stop by the Museum if you are in the area. Their quilts will also be displayed at our quilt show so if you miss seeing them at the museum you’ll get to enjoy them at our show.
Also, another local group, Coastal Quilt Artists, to which three of our members belong, Anne Marcin, Penny Myles and Janet Duncan Dignan, recently received good news. Their group quilt "Back Bay, Boston" has been juried into the Houston show. The group had an exhibition last month at the North River Arts Society in Marshfield Hills, and this quilt was one of their pieces on display. Hope you were fortunate to have seen it. Now it's off to Houston!
Congratulations to guild member, Kathy Rich on her 3rd place win for Innovative Template sponsored by Meander Publishing at the MQX Quilt Show in Providence for her beautiful quilt titled “Garden Gate.” Way to go Kathy!!!!!!
Slice quilts!!! “Arena Farms” was at “The Gathering” in New Hampshire. Did you see it? What a wonderful way to make a group quilt. Two Herring Run quilters, Penny Myles and Janet Dignan made slices of this amazing quilt. Also “Boston’s Fenway Park” was at the 2009 Houston Quilt Festival where it was awarded a 3rd place rosette. Penny Myles and Anne Marcin (our guilds’ biggest Red Sox fan) each made a slice. These Herring Run quilters created these slice quilts as members of the Coastal Quilt Artists. The slice quilts are featured in a three page spread in the December/January 2010 issue of Quilter’s Newsletter on pages 38-40. Congratulations to all the Coastal Quilt Artists!! For a close-up view of the “Boston Fenway Park” quilt go to ttp://www.bobbiesullivan.com/cqa_fenway.htm.
Guild member Kathy Rich had two quilts hanging at “The Gathering” in New Hampshire called “Stars over Mendon” and “Fresh Bouquet”. Both quilts are just wonderful and have plenty of quilting. Kathy has become a very good machine quilter and her work is “perfection”. I enjoyed the quilt show and the hunt to find both of her quilts. Congratulations Kathy!
The following guild members had quilts in the 2009 Marshfield Fair. All of them won prizes!!
Congratulations to all the Herring Run quilters on a job well done!!!
