September 12th – Adaptive Quilting discussion with Maureen

October 3rd – Michael Pagano (Moda Fabric Rep)-Michael has been a fabric representative for over 20 years working with all of the quilt shops in the New England Region. He will share how fabric starts out as cotton from Texas that goes overseas and then comes back as the beautiful fabric we see on our favorite shop’s shelves. He may even have a few sneak peeks for us!
October 3rd:Workshop: A Quilted Witch’s Hat
HRQG’s own Michelle LaFrance and Kara Romanow will lead a timely workshop
on how to make a wearable witch hat. Both Kara and Michelle sported their hats at our October guild meeting last year. We immediately approached them to show us how to make them!! Supply List
November 7th – Adele Scott will be presenting “My Favorite Tips, Techniques and Products” lecture at our guild meeting. She describes this as a fast moving, fun lecture & demo on a wide variety of topics. She will talk about the latest sewing machine aids to specialty rulers, appliqué tricks to perfect flying geese, what markers work and why we need different sizes and types of pins, plus so much more… She promises we will solve problems, learn to save time, eliminate trouble areas and make sewing more enjoyable.
Workshop: Ruler Round Robin workshop
How many rulers do you own that you haven’t used yet? The “demonstrators” make everything look so easy! Have you wanted to try a ruler without buying it to make sure you like it? Adele will bring a collection of selected rulers. There will be stations set up to give everyone the opportunity to test the ruler and all it has to offer. You’ll learn all the tricks, tips and products to be successful and not frustrated! So much fun!
Adele will bring items for purchase.
December 5th – Holiday Party
January 9th – Rita Partridge -Trunk show and lecture entitled “On Your Mark Get Set Label” will address the often most important and overlooked part to a quilt. The label!! Labels are very important as a way to document your work. Knowing the “Who, What, When, Where and Why” of a quilt should be on every label. Rita has created many labels over time and found they can be as creative as the quilt. She will present many of her most creative labels in this trunk show.
Workshop: Creating the perfect label
In this workshop Rita encourages people to bring a quilt top that is either finished or close to finished. Along with the quilt top she asks attendees to bring any leftover fabrics, a background fabric for the label, and any other materials used to make the top. Some “other materials” could be beads, or embroidery threads, almost anything that the quilter has included in the quilt top. She also asks that the students in the class provide her with label information before class and from that she will prepare the text for attendees to use in the workshop. Then in the workshop attendees will work on writing the text for the label, followed by looking over the materials and embellishing the label so that it reflects the front of the quilt.
February 6th – Pat Delaney– will share many of her stunning quilts along with a
lecture for us.
Workshop: Machine Quilting on Your Domestic Machine
HRQG’s very own guild member and instructor, Pat Delaney, will help take the guesswork out of machine quilting on your home machine.

March 6th – Michelle Cain– Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts Trunk Show will
explore the designs from Michelle’s book Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts. She uses a variety of shapes to create this collection of 14 patterns that range in size from wall hangings to bed-size quilts. Some of the projects feature more modern, geometric blocks; others transform jelly rolls into novelty blocks like rainbows, whales, and cats. This presentation will leave you wanting to dust off the jelly rolls in your own stash and transform them into beautiful, finished projects!
Workshop: Five Star Experience jelly roll quilt
In this 3 hour class, students will make a baby- or throw-size quilt with a bold, modern star motif. The workshop will cover sewing accurate seams with jelly roll strips as well as tips for finishing the quilt in unique and creative ways.
Students who sew the baby-size project will likely complete their top during class. Those who are sewing the throw-size project and do not finish piecing their top by the class’s end can easily complete it at home.
This class uses Michelle’s book, Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts. Each participant is required to have a copy of the book, which can be purchased from Michelle or from various online retailers and quilt shops.
April 3rd – Janet Elias – Finish with a Spiffy Binding trunk show/lecture.
Janet will display and discuss the various bindings that can be added to a quilt top to compliment the design.
Workshop: Finish with a Spiffy Bindings workshop
Everyone knows when your quilt top is done, sandwiched and quilted, you need to bind it. Janet adds, “But not with any binding — bind it with a Spiffy Binding!!!”
During this workshop she teaches participants how to make several types of Spiffy bindings: Regular, Flange, Faced, Piped and Beaded. Other types will be discussed.
May 1st – Sue Michaels’ trunk show/lecture “How to Manage Your Stash” will help all of us with this ongoing challenge!!!
Workshop: Not Your Grandmother’s Disappearing 9 Patch
Fast, fun and sometimes unpredictable outcomes make using this technique fun!
Depending on how a nine patch is cut, how many sequences of cuts and of course color placement in the original nine patch blocks, will make for interesting and unique final blocks.
In this class you will explore 6 to 8 different techniques for making disappearing nine patch quilts and your handout will include several more methods. Simple sewing and cutting techniques will turn your basic nine patch units into fun and intricate blocks. You may even invent your own block!
Pattern inspiration will be provided.
June 5th – Mystery Quilt reveal
